Engine Lube Oil Filtration Circuit — Full-Flow with Bypass Valve

Documents the lube oil filtration circuit architecture used in virtually all internal combustion engines. The full-flow design routes 100% of pump output through the filter, ensuring all circulating oil is filtered before reaching bearings. The integral bypass valve (1.5–3.5 bar ΔP) protects the engine from oil starvation if the filter element becomes blocked — at the cost of passing unfiltered oil. This trade-off is the primary engineering argument for correct filter service intervals.
