GAIRFIL General Air Filtration for Industrial Ventilation

Engineering Reference · Industrial & Process

Platform: AEREMIS™

Technology: GAIRFIL™

Engineering Relationships

  • GAIRFIL™ is the ELIMFILTERS General Air Filtration technology for airborne particulate control in industrial ventilation, make-up air and general air-handling duties.
  • The treatment path may use prefiltration and staged particulate capture selected around dust loading and allowable pressure drop.
  • Filter configuration must be resolved together with the existing air-handling system, housing condition and service-access constraints.
  • GAIRFIL™ maps to TC-AIR-01 and remains distinct from HE-CRIVA™ critical-air filtration; the General Air Filtration descriptor is retained for technical classification and discovery clarity.

Problems

  • Airborne particulate loading
  • Visible dust downstream
  • Unexpected pressure-drop rise
  • Short service intervals
  • Bypass or sealing evidence

Diagnostic Methods

  • Review differential-pressure trend and visible loading across the installed stages.
  • Inspect housing, sealing surfaces and filter seating for bypass paths.
  • Compare service interval behavior with actual dust loading and airflow duty.

Corrective Actions

  • Re-evaluate staging when upstream loading is prematurely consuming the final filter stage.
  • Correct housing or sealing defects before attributing downstream dust solely to media performance.
  • Re-select media or stage arrangement when allowable pressure drop and contaminant loading are mismatched.

Operating Conditions

  • Variable outdoor-air dust loading
  • Continuous or intermittent ventilation duty
  • Space and service-access constraints
  • Pressure-drop limits across the air-handling system

Standards

  • ISO 16890-1:2016 — ePM-based classification and general requirements for air filters used in general ventilation.
  • ISO 16890-2:2022 — measurement of fractional efficiency and airflow resistance.
  • ISO 16890-3:2024 — gravimetric efficiency and airflow resistance versus captured test-dust mass.
  • ISO 16890-4:2022 — conditioning method used to determine minimum fractional test efficiency.
  • ISO 29462:2022 — in-situ field testing of general ventilation filtration devices and systems where field verification is required.
